VERY COOL STUFF!!!… So I finally got off my duff on this one, did a bit of research and finally found out how I can syndicate my blog to one of my other websites. I was hoping that I would be able to blog in one single place about whatever I wanted to blog about, then take various categories and syndicate them into my other websites. Example, this post will be within my web design, and internet categories, both of which I have set up here on my orionsweb website.
The solution??? There was actually several available, the majority of them required purchasing scripts or software, not too expensive, but I’m cheap, and this being my first dive into RSS I wanted to try out some of the ‘free’ or open sourced solutions. The one that I went with is CaRP RSS to HTML Converter. CaRP offers both a free and pay versions of their script. The paid one offers a bit more customization of how your feed will look on the website.
The setup script that CaRP provides is actually relatively simple to set up. I highly recommend watching the short installation video they have on their site, prior to watching the video I fumbled around in the dark for a while (it really does help to read directions
). Once I had it all installed customizing it to how I wanted it displayed was nothing more than following some of the tips in the video and a little bit of CSS and voilá one syndicated page from my blog on my business site: http://www.orionsweb.net/blog.php.
With more and more clients now beginning to add blogs to their websites, this will definitely come in handy. As simply as taking a category from a blog and syndicating it to their website, to getting a bit fancier and displaying blog titles in the sidebar on a site.
Thanks CaRP, great work!
