Why Usability is An Important Part Of SEO

Awesome article regarding usability: Why Usability An Important Part Of SEO .

I’m constantly blown away by complicated layouts that seem to say to the site visitor.. get outta here we don’t actually want you looking at what’s in our site!.. The above article gives us yet one more reason to make sure our sites are logically laid out and easy to navigate!

Worth the Read!

Another moment in bad twittiquette

Peeved Tweetie<pulls out soapbox, steps up on top, begins rant…> I am TOTALLY blown away by how inconsiderate so many tweeple can be! The eternal optimist in me wants to assume that their rudeness is nothing more than ignorance in disguise.

What’s got me in a kerfuffle you might ask? Let me give you the scenario, see if this may have happened to you?

You’re getting your day going, it’s time to check the DMs on your twitter account… Awesome, a bunch of DMs, some from people you regularly converse with and a few from people you just started following, thanking you!

This new followee not only says thank you but begins a dialogue! Awesome! Excellent, how nice! Not spam! yeah!

So you hit reply on your twitter client, “DM username …” and proceed to compose a beautifully elegant response in 140 chars or less… Then you hit SEND… Read More »

Blackberry vs iPhone

blackberry-tour-9630As anyone who knows me could tell you, last week I finally took possession of my first smart phone, a BlackBerry Tour 9630.

The journey to my BlackBerry was a long one and at times confusing! For some background: I had recently laid to rest my 5th PDA, an HP iPAQ running Windows Mobile. Prior to that I have owned, used, abused and put to rest a Palm III, a Palm IIIxe, a Palm V, and a Palm Tungsten E. Then I have always had my cell phone, dating back to 1991 when I purchased my first AT&T phone (1lb?) on the Cantel Network.

So the time had definitely come, to merge these two worlds into one unit. But what to get, what to use?

I needed a PDA (calendar, tasks, docs, spreadsheets, email); Internet tool (browser, IM, twitter, facebook (I do specialize in social media and the web lol) and more); Extras? (MP3, Video, Camera?); and of course I need a phone, and a good one! I was sick of lousy reception et al. Also, I wanted a plan that was affordable, and would meet my needs… Read More »

Don’t be a twanker: twitiquette

twitter-iconRead a great article today @ CTV.ca: CTV.ca | Don’t be a twanker: Common sense should rule with Twitter.

The adage of don’t complain cause no one wants to listen, has, does and will always apply in any social setting, including online social media.

A rant or pet peeve is one thing, but simply whining about your own situation.. no one is interested and it only makes you look bad.

We, as professionals and socially aware individuals also need to be very aware of what we tweet and guard against accidentally tweeting something that could be considered libellous!

The bottom line: watch that tweet, if you don’t keep it safe it could get you in trouble!

How Many Twitter Followers Does it Take to Get a Job?

tweetiesThis is a first, to my knowledge, but I highly doubt a last!

Best Buy may have missed on valid criteria (as one reader commented it should be the @ follows or DMs not followers for the qualifier) but they are just the tip of the iceberg on this one!

How Twitter Will Die

Great article on the possible future of twitter, based on astute observation of other social media tools of the past decade.

How Twitter Will Die | Social Commentary: Social Media, Online Marketing, Podcasting, and Your Business.

In my opinion the author: Jeremiah Staes brings up many good and valid points however closes the door on the issue, leaving out that even in the examples he uses, not all email is mass handled, nor snail mail for that matter!

No matter how impersonal any medium of contact may become there will always be those, no matter how popular (professional, celebrity, politician) who will take the time to connect to their audience one to one.
